I dreamed of becoming a rock guitarist, playing before huge audiences and earning millions of dollars at it. Needless to say, classical guitar was not where I wanted to be.

Clearing out the garage one day I found my dad’s old classical guitar. I did not understand that the nylon strings and headstock design were unusual compared to either metal strung acoustic guitars or electric axes, since I had never seen an instrument up close before. I assumed this was what all guitars looked like, and I asked my dad to give me some lessons. He showed me a few things right away, and my practice became nonstop.
